Up Lights
Up Lights
Today’s array of landscape lighting fixtures brings fantastic design opportunities for lighting the exterior of homes and buildings
Up lights are a creative way to illuminate objects such as trees, plants, architectural elements and foliage with focused, direct beams of light. Lights are installed at the ground level of the building or tree and pointed to shine upwards. Then LED’s give off a bright but soft light that enhances the beauty of the object it is illuminating by making it the focal point of the area and helping that object draw the attention it deserves.
Design Tip: Place upward-facing lights 12 inches from the building foundation and aim upwards to light appealing architectural features. When uplighting trees and foliage, make sure to light the trunk as well as the upper branches.
Uplighting is also used to emphasize building elements such as columns or emphasize specific parts of the grounds like trees or landscaping features.
