A simple and effective technique hides the light source beneath the capstone. Light spreads smoothly and evenly. This warm, subtle glow lends itself to more traditional settings.
Design Tip: Hiding the light source helps prevent glare. Use shrubbery, plants, trees or hardscape elements to hide or block the fixture. Or use a glare shield on the fixture to control direct glare. Many lighting manufacturers design the light fixture so that the angle at which the lamp is in direct view is limited. This called the cut-off angle or shielding angle.
